Title: Trying to identify lighthouse from the 1940's probably Pacific Ocean
Post by: lakeoconee on February 15, 2021, 08:50:26 PM
This picture was found among my fathers's WW 2 pictures.  I am just guessing it is a lighthouse because of the top.  He was in the Navy and served during the battle of Okinawa.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never seen such shape. Interesting. Need to dig a bit more.

I've look into different sources - seems all Japanese lighthouses in Okinawa were destroyed during WW2. But all old LH in Japan have a classic shape, nothing similar to what's on the picture. Also i have some doubts that there is a lantern on top - maybe this is kind of observation deck, so this is a watch tower etc?
