Lighthouse identification / Re: what Russia lighthouse ?
November 09, 2019, 08:21:41 AM
(1)  Tricky one. This is very typical light construction in Russia. Need at least name of the area to identify as there are hundreds of such lights i guess.
(2) Dagestan, Makhachkala - 150 y.o. lighthouse in Caspian sea.

Hey! Thanks for interesting question. I've removed another same topic just not to duplicate them.
I dig the database a bit
Norway claims Slettnes lighthouse as the northern one (71°05′22″N)
https://www.lightphotos.net/photos/displayimage.php?pid=28037&
But actually in Russia many lights are located much more to North. Most of them are wooden structures like this
https://www.lightphotos.net/photos/displayimage.php?pid=20878
But some of them are concrete structures:
Vil'kitskiy lighthouse (73 30.8787 N)
https://www.lightphotos.net/photos/displayimage.php?pid=11680
and even far to North Belukha island lighthouse (76 2.9680 N)
https://www.lightphotos.net/photos/displayimage.php?pid=13215
https://www.lightphotos.net/photos/displayimage.php?pid=13214
There is very limited information about northern lighhtouses of Russia, but so far i didn't find any other classic lighthouse beyond this latitude.

I use for several years Canon Powershot SX30 IS with 35x zoom as at that times it was more-less maximum zoom for reasonable price. I know now it was replaced by SX40 HS series, also 35x and SX70 HS available with 65x zoom. Thank for sharing data, Peter, i will look to Nikon as well, as i'm thinking to replace my camera. And i fully agree, superzoom is great option as many lights are not so easy to reach so better to make a pictures from the distance.

As for the drones - there was a #NSLighthouseProject - guys made really amazing pictures on Nova Scotia coast https://www.facebook.com/nokaoidroneguys/  this is actually great idea to use them for. Looking forward that there would be more and more such pictures!

Marine chart doesn't have anything in this point. Seems it is not registered at least.

Agreed, very simular to typical NS lighthouses.
There was breakwater lighthouse in Port Maitland but it was different shape.

But the building could be relocated light from some other place (as far as i can see this is often story in NS). Maybe only locals could advice...

I have a feeling that right light is actually two lights in a line so you can't see 4 lights on this picture.
Here is what should be on the chart. These lights shows the fairway, unlikely that one of them could be removed.
