Lighthouse identification / Re: Petit Point Lighthouse

One more consideration is that Little Sable lighthouse was previously named  Petite Pointe au Sablé and it was white and had a large keeper house nearby, but surrounding area (sandy beach) doesn't really similar to your picture.  https://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=193

Hey Terry,

I went through a bunch of real lighthouses that match the look — tall white tower, rocky coast, keeper's house close by.

Here are the closest real-world examples:
New England:
Portland Head Light (Maine) – tall white tower on dramatic rocky cliffs, big keeper's house nearby. Very classic "American lighthouse" look.
California:
Pigeon Point Lighthouse – very tall white tower, classic coastal setting with keeper's quarters nearby.
Point Arena Lighthouse – tall white cylindrical tower on a rocky promontory, buildings close by.

The thing is, none of them match perfectly.
The tower style looks a lot like Pigeon Point
The rocky cliffs feel like Maine.
The house being so tightly connected to the tower isn't typical for most West Coast station, mostly this setup you can see around Great Lakes.
And the red base doesn't match the real paint schemes of these lighthouses.
So i would bet this is some mix of a classic, idealized American lighthouse image rather than one specific real place.

Lighthouse identification / Petit Point Lighthouse
Last post by TerryC - February 11, 2026, 03:54:33 PM
Hello Everyone,  My wife bought a Petit Point Lighthouse at the local Thrift Store, very nicely done and professionally framed.  It would be much more interesting if I could identify the lighthouse, if it is real and not just an imagined lighthouse for a Petit Point kit.  Since we live in Invermere, BC, about 1000 m from the Pacific Ocean, there are not too many local lighthouses.  And this kit may have been completed anywhere in the world, I suppose, so it could be hard to determine which lighthouse is depicted.  If you love a puzzle, please have a look and see if you can identify this lighthouse.  Any help in finding the name and location of the lighthouse would be greatly appreciated.  Are there sites which can do photo matching with a database of lighthouses (facial recognition for lighthouses?)?Petit Point Lighthouse.jpeg

Hoping I can get some advice to save a lighthouse on our Atwood Lake in Ohio.

Currently, there is a plastic sheating covering the main exterior. I've seen similar type material used on walls in restrooms at gas stations or restaurants. Ours has developed some cracking which in enabling water to get in and we're worried if we don't stop it that eventually it will have to be torn down.

The interior walls are constructed using 2x6's with plywood sheeting under the cracked exterior covering. I'm wondering what products could be used to cover the current exterior? Is there a special coating that could be brushed or rolled on the surface that would help protect it? If not, I'm thinking a wire mesh would need to be tacked up an then a imitation brick or stone type surface added.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. We'd hate to see this local landmark be torn down. The lighthouse is not a working lighthouse although we would like to see some better lighting added behind the glass at the top.

Thank you, Mitch

I got a number of light pictures from French Polynesia. It's difficult to find information and the accurate position of the lights. Here I have two pictures of lights from the Île de Huahine. Both lights are in the Mārō'ē Bay of this island.
Is there a list of lights from French Polynesia and especially from Huahine? Any help is appreciated!

This is just a assumption that it could be radar reflector inside, so to make this beacon better visible for radar.
